High Grade Hemp Seed, a Santa Fe Farms company, announces certification of their hemp varietal, Matterhorn CBG, by the Association of Official Seed Certifying Agencies (AOSCA)

LONGMONT, Colo. – May 4, 2021 High Grade Hemp Seed, a Santa Fe Farms company and a leader in the production and sales of premium hemp genetics, has received AOSCA certification of its top-performing CBG varietal, Matterhorn CBG.

The Association of Official Seed Certifying Agencies (AOSCA) is dedicated to the production, identification, distribution and promotion of certified classes of seed. Its certification of Matterhorn CBG paves the way for High Grade and its trusted affiliates to distribute to States, Countries and Native American Nations where certification of seed is required for entry into their ag markets as well as other markets where certification is unnecessary.

Mike Lauder, CEO of High Grade Hemp Seed, explained, “Obtaining certification for our hemp strains is critically important to provide farmers around the world with access to the seed needed to consistently produce healthy, compliant, high-yield hemp crops across a broad spectrum of cannabinoids. It’s a mission fully supported by our parent, Santa Fe Farms, as we seek to improve the quality and performance of our genetics and enhance the global supply chain for hemp.”

While THC and CBD have long been cannabinoids of focus, today’s researchers, manufacturers, and hemp breeders are teaming up to advance production and adoption of CBG. Farmers are actively seeking out new strains that deliver high yields of CBG over other cannabinoids in response to market demand and favorable prices for CBG biomass.

AOSCA certified Matterhorn CBG seeds are available for purchase today at highgradehempseed.com and through trusted affiliates, including iHEMPx and CBD National.

Founded by seasoned investor  Steven Gluckstern, Santa Fe Farms recognizes the critical importance of genetics in successful hemp farming and production. Bringing High Grade into its fold boosts the company’s quest to round out its portfolio of hemp-centric companies, with a mutual goal of elevating the hemp industry on a global scale.

For Santa Fe Farms, adding High Grade brings a strong genetics partner into its portfolio of companies. For High Grade, the union provides a foundation with strength in the supply chain  side of hemp agriculture as well as a strong springboard into industrial hemp and its rapidly growing list of potential applications.

As with any agriculture-based business, it all starts with the seed. Santa Fe Farms and High Grade share the mutual vision of continuing to evolve hemp genetics, working together to develop strains that will adapt to climate change, as well as serving customers’ and consumers’ needs and desires. Additionally, the opportunities for industrial hemp are vast, and both companies recognize that this is and will continue to be a major focus for hemp production in the future.

“This is a win-win for all of us, as High Grade Hemp Seed rounds out a comprehensive hemp enterprise at Santa Fe Farms,” remarked Steven Gluckstern, CEO of Santa Fe Farms and Chair of the Board of Managers. “Now, Santa Fe Farms has a complete operation with verticals in each significant area of hemp production: seed genetics; cultivation; post cultivation services; processing and manufacturing; consulting; wholesale, white label and retail sales; and the development of HempTraxx, a ‘Supply-Chain as a Service’ blockchain based software.”

High Grade executives are enthusiastic about the opportunities through the new relationship with Santa Fe Farms family of companies. “There are multiple benefits in becoming part of the Santa Fe Farms ecosystem,” says Bodhi Urbann, Founder of High Grade Hemp Seed. “High Grade has had a goal of expanding into the industrial hemp space. This agreement provides capital and resources to allow us to continue research and investment into industrial genetics. It feeds nicely into the Santa Fe Farms ecosystem that has ties to industrial research, as well as the ongoing pursuit of genetics for CBD as an ingredient.”

High Grade recently announced that it is a Platinum Partner at the prestigious South by Southwest® (SXSW®) 2021. The sponsorship is a boon for Santa Fe Farms as well, aligning with the company’s goal of ingraining the hemp industry onto the radar of the high profile audience that flocks to the annual conference.

“Aside from the economic and growth benefits for both companies, we are all committed to powering a global supply chain for a better, healthier and more sustainable world,” adds Urban. “All indicators show that the potential of this amazing plant has yet to be tapped, and we are on a mission to tap it.”

High Grade Hemp Seed and Center Pivot Group introduce initiative to start with the end in mind, making consistent, compliant hemp production a reality for maturing market

LONGMONT, Colo., Oct 13, 2020 Recognized as a maturing market, the hemp industry’s biggest challenge is stabilization: achieving a balance between demand, supply, and production to yield profit for both farmers and buyers. As demand for hemp products increases, farmers are eager to grow the crop, yet a lack of standardization and gaps in the supply chain have stymied long-term growth to date. High Grade Hemp Seed, a market leader in the production and sales of premium hemp genetics, announces a game changer for the industry today: the introduction of a Farm Partner Program (FPP). Co-created by Center Pivot Group (CPG), this first of its kind program will effectively make consistent, compliant production a reality for the US hemp market. The FPP debuts at hempFORWARD, a virtual event launching on Oct. 13, 2020 co-sponsored by High Grade Hemp Seed and Center Pivot Group, and produced by The Farm Journal.

The new Farm Partner Program will provide an infrastructure for hemp producers that guarantees a price for hemp flower at harvest, with the condition that it has been grown in accordance with guidelines laid out in the partnership agreement. For farmers who have purchased High Grade Hemp Seed genetics and followed specific standards laid out for crop management, this helps to assure a return on their original investment. Likewise, buyers and manufacturers can be assured of consistent and compliant hemp extract produced through the Center Pivot Group supply chain which will in turn fuel confidence in the marketplace. High Grade is committed to raising global standards for growing and producing hemp, and will be revealing news of new initiatives at the hempFORWARD event.

“The industry is growing vigorously, but we have recognized the barriers faced by farmers and buyers in terms of long term stability,” says Isaac Cohen, CFO of High Grade Hemp. “We are focused on solutions, which start with the end in mind. The Farm Partner Program addresses the needs not just of small farmers, but large scale agricultural producers who want certainty in terms of how to cultivate and harvest on a mass scale.”

The FPP will roll out immediately in the US – primarily in Calif., Colo., Minn., N.Y., Ore., and Texas – before looking towards international markets. Initially, the FPP will be open to experienced hemp farmers who purchase HG genetics. At point of seed sale, farmers will be introduced to end market contracts for their extracted hemp flower at harvest.

Contracts for biomass will be based on the trading value of hemp seed at purchase, with a revenue split after harvest between HG and the farmer. According to Global Market Insights, the worldwide market for CBD is expected to reach $89 billion by 2026. Demand for hemp and derivatives is expected to increase exponentially in the coming years.

“We want to support farmers throughout all points of the supply chain so that achieving a return on their investment becomes possible year after year,” says Adrian Zelski, president of Center Pivot Group. “To make that a reality, it’s critical for buyers to access a stable market to purchase consistent and compliant hemp, just as they do any other commodity. We’re excited and confident that the Farm Partner Program will be the instrument that underpins the hemp market as it matures,” he adds.

High Grade Hemp Seed Announces International Distribution in Europe

High Grade Hemp Seed, in partnership with Swiss Cannabinoid, now offers full catalog of premiere hemp strains to customers throughout Europe.

LONGMONT, Colo., June 16, 2020 – High Grade Hemp Seed is answering the demand for best-in-class hemp cultivars in Europe with a powerful new distribution partnership, making High Grade’s entire catalog available internationally. This is the first of many steps toward streamlining full international distribution, and opens up the European market in a way that was previously difficult to navigate. It also ensures faster access, facilitating easier processing and rapid shipping timelines within the European Union, as well as providing access to previously difficult to obtain best-in-class hemp genetics.

All High Grade Hemp Seed strains are now available for sale as seeds in Europe.

“Amidst the turmoil in import/export regulations and the ever-changing political landscape, having an established neighbor in a growing European market helps pave an easier path for the hemp farmer,” says Mike Leago, COO of High Grade. “It takes strong relationships built on trust and transparency to create a partnership that is effective across the ocean. We have that faith in Swiss Cannabinoid to stand beside us as we help elevate seed genetics worldwide. This expansion will encourage European hemp cultivators to try new varietals, better diversify their crops, and increase profitability.“

High Grade Hemp Seed and Swiss Cannabinoid launched its official collaboration earlier this year by paving the way in CBG production in the U.S. with the release of its highly popular new strain, Matterhorn CBG. This international distribution agreement builds upon that partnership, making the entire High Grade portfolio of proven hemp genetics available to European buyers.

Matthias Ghidossi, founder of Swiss Cannabinoid, has been a key player in the European hemp industry for years. Of the High Grade partnership, Ghidossi shared, “After kick-starting a highly synergistic relationship with the High Grade team on Matterhorn, becoming their European distribution partners was a natural progression. As one of the largest and most respected hemp genetics companies in the world, this fresh infusion of hemp cultivars into the European market will be a great benefit to farmers across the EU.”

Isaac Cohen, Chief Financial Officer at High Grade Hemp Seed, stated, “Our team has successfully navigated regulatory hurdles, distribution and fulfillment complexity, and customer service considerations to build a robust distribution ecosystem capable of selling and shipping our hemp cultivars to farmers throughout Europe. This has been a huge endeavor, and I’m immensely proud of our team for getting the job done in time for 2020 planting.”

Looking ahead to 2021 and beyond, High Grade is pushing R&D with 20 new terpene crosses and leading edge genetics focused on high-potential minor cannabinoids. The company’s mission continues to center on the needs of farmers, delivering the best genetics and superior results to power their success.

Diversifying crops with profitable CBG hemp strains helps growers weather economic uncertainty.

LONGMONT, Colo., June 2, 2020 High Grade Hemp Seed, global leaders in the production and sales of premium hemp genetics, has a solution for farmers looking for diversification during economic uncertainty: grow hemp. The industrial hemp industry has been expanding exponentially in the past few years as more states legalize hemp production. Yet, the industry is still maturing and farmers are navigating new, uncharted ground.

High Grade Hemp Seed is leading the charge in helping farmers stay ahead of the trend and meet the growing market demand. The company, founded in 2011, is continuing to test new varietals, develop diverse strains, work within the industry to ensure compliance, and foremost: sell high quality hemp seed to farms around the United States and the world.

Its most recent debut is a highly anticipated new strain, Matterhorn CBG.

Cannabigerol (CBG) is the mother of popular Cannabidiol (CBD), and is lower in Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid (THC), easy to farm and highly resilient. Matterhorn flowers have up to 15 percent CBG, and Matterhorn is remarkably even lower in THC. In addition, adding CBG crops allows farmers to diversify. Matterhorn CBG is a vigorous, revolutionary strain of European industrial hemp, with potential uses in both the medical field and in consumer goods.

Matterhorn CBG is a smart choice for both smokable flower growers and farmers concerned with regulatory compliance. This terpene-focused varietal has a palate of effervescent lemon and lime with skunky notes of hops. When grown properly, even harvested late, Matterhorn delivers reliable compliance with recent USDA interim draft rules for hemp production.

Through two years of field trials, Matterhorn CBG has proven to be uniform, stable, and unique. Germination rates are at 95 percent and feminization rates at 99.98 percent, producing one male to every 4000 females. A high level of CBG combined with reliable THC compliance make the strain a good option for farmers entering the hemp market or diversifying beyond CBD-rich hemp or non-hemp crops.

“Never has there been a more important time to focus on hemp genetics,” says Bodhi Urban, CEO of High Grade Hemp Seed. “Sourcing your seeds from the right partner is crucial. High Grade is committed to the highest quality hemp seed in diverse strains, and also offers farmers the resources and assistance to succeed.”

What is CBG and why is it a good alternative to CBD?

CBG is a precursor to all other cannabinoids such as CBD, CBN (Cannabinol), CBC (Cannabichromene) and THCA (Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid). As with CBD, CBG has several early studies showing potential health benefits, including studies on cancer, Parkinson’s disease, and general pain relief, but with even lower THC implications. CBG attaches to both CB1 and CB2 receptors. This means that the entire endocannabinoid system can be targeted, opening doors to new treatments. The genetics of the plant is the primary price factor. Breeding strains with higher CBG levels lowers the cost to extract the CBG as less biomass is needed. Matterhorn CBG is a viable force in the hemp industry with high levels of CBG, consistently testing at 12.46 percent and up to 15 percent CBG. These high levels are reached while maintaining compliance with THC regulations. Matterhorn CBG’s THC levels test at 0.09 percent.

Bright Future for Hemp Farming Despite Pandemic

Since the end of the decades-long prohibition on industrial hemp, there has been a surge in market demand for hemp-derived products. Passage of the 2018 Farm Bill has led farmers across the country to transition their operations to include fields or greenhouses of industrial hemp. Industrial hemp markets are poised to continue their upward growth. Projections are that the industrial hemp market will grow from 4.6 billion in 2019 to 26.6 billion by 2025. Diversifying into hemp farming offers farmers a way forward during times of economic uncertainty.

“High Grade is helping the hemp industry move forward so farmers can come back strong after this pandemic,” adds Urban. “Those considering a 2020 harvest can order seeds now, and seedlings are delivered on-demand with a two-week lead time customized to meet field preparation timelines.”

“High Grade is on the forefront of innovation in the hemp genetics industry,” says Christy Thiel, Director of Education and Partner Relations at Seed2System, a Colorado producer and distributor of high quality hemp CBD products. “We are really excited about the potential of this new Matterhorn CBG strain, both for its usage potential, but also what it could mean for farmers’ livelihoods.”
