A New and Exciting High CBG Strain of Hemp

Interested in growing hemp for CBG extraction? Then you’ve come to the right place. Our Matterhorn CBG hemp seed is one of the very first seeds specifically bred as a high CBG strain. Investing in Matterhorn CBG allows farmers to diversify their hemp crop and service the quickly growing consumer appetite for CBG oil and smokable flowers.

At High Grade Hemp Seed, we offer the very best in seed genetics. We’ve worked long and hard to breed a hemp seed that provides never-before-seen CBG yields for our customers. Our feminized hemp seeds are also robust and the mature flowers offer an enticing terp profile.

CBG Oil Could Be the Next CBD Oil

CBD is all the rage in the health and wellness industry, but interest is rapidly growing for cannabigerol (CBG), another compound that can be extracted from the hemp plant. Early research suggests that CBG oil may provide a wide variety of health benefits to users. Farmers are also starting to take an interest in CBG oil, especially the high price it can earn on the market.

There has been just one problem: Most hemp plants contain far less CBG-rich resin than CBD-rich resin. While top CBG hemp plants can hit rates of up to 20% CBD, those same plants may only produce a 1% rate of CBG.

That is, until now.

Introducing Matterhorn CBG

At High Grade Hemp Seed, we put our hemp breeding expertise to work and are proud to introduce our Matterhorn CBG hemp plant. This CBG-dominant strain can produce up to 15% CBG resin.

Farmers who are willing to invest in CBG strains can see a high ROI for their efforts. The historically low rate of CBG extraction has resulted in CBG oil retailing for a much higher price than CBD oil.

A Robust Hemp Crop

Matterhorn CBG isn’t just a hemp strain high in CBG resin. We also bred it from an extremely robust industrial hemp strain making it easy to farm. Farmers in many different climates can grow Matterhorn CBG and achieve strong yields making it a great choice for crop diversification.

CBG Dominant Hemp Seeds

We offer Matterhorn CBG as a seed. More experienced farmers with greenhouse infrastructures may prefer to invest in seeds.

Great Terpene Profile

Many downstream clients are looking for smokable CBG flowers, which means the terpene profile matters when you invest in strains high in CBG. Our Matterhorn CBG doesn’t disappoint. Your customers can expect a bubbly, tropical scent filled with notes of citrus, lemon, and lime. Yum!

Nearly Perfect Rates of Feminization

Whether you’re growing hemp for CBD or CBG extract, male plants can dramatically lower your yields. At High Grade, we’ve achieved a feminization rate of over 99.8% for all our hemp strains, including our Matterhorn CBG.

With our high CBG hemp strain, you’ll have far less worry about finding and culling males before they can pollinate your females.

Reliable Compliance

The 2018 Farm Bill requires that all industrial hemp maintains a THC rate of less than 0.3%. Seed genetics play a big role in how much THC a hemp plant produces. Our Matterhorn CBG tested at below 0.1% THC, though farmers need to continually monitor and test their crops, especially as maturation approaches.

Farming Matterhorn CBG

What does it take to actually plant and grow our high CBG strain? If you choose to order Matterhorn CBG seeds, germination typically takes 48 hours. You can also expect a high germination rate of around 95%.

Depending on the region, flowering usually occurs around late September, and farmers can expect an eight to nine-week maturation timeline.

To achieve the highest CBG extract yield from your crop, we recommend planting 2,000 to 3,000 plants per acre. Our experience suggests a potential yield of 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of dry plant material per acre.
